The objective of the festival is to inform professional as well as nonprofessional public about the latest findings of science, research, development and practice in the sphere of agriculture, food industries, nutrition of population, problems in rural areas and their inhabitants, conservation of natural resources and improvement of life quality.
The films in the competition are judged by an international jury of 5 members, the chairman and members of which are appointed by the president of Agrofilm.
The programme of the festival consists of:
- International film competition,
- Informative projection of film, which were not incorporated into the competition,
- Projection at wish,
- Special and concomitant events.
Awards
The international jury is competent to award the main prize «Magna Mater» — the prize of the Government of the Slovak Republic, first 3 statutory prizes and to recommend award of other prizes.
Rules
- Films submitted for the competition should be aimed first of all at problems in agriculture and food industries, rural development, quality of life and health in inhabitants;
- The number of registered films and video records is not limited. Participation in other festivals does not preclude
participation in Agrofilm. - The screen time should not exceed 45 minutes. The selection commission can permit exception.
Documents and Other Requisite Items
- Fill out entry form,
- Send DVD with submitted film by mail.
- The film for competition must have an annotation with no more than 100 words in English, Czech or Slovak. Texts in DOC format (MS – Word). Other advertising material and photographs submitted in JPG format are welcomed also by e-mail to the address: agrofilm@vuzv.sk.
- It is necessary to provide complete commentary (dialogue) document or text screenplay in format DOC (MS –
Word) with screen time in one of the following languages: English, Czech, Slovak, French, Spanish.

Jury and Organizers
The Festival is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic and the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic under the Government of the Slovak Republic and of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
